“Right now we have no idea what someone on social assistance needs to live,” said Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction director Tom Cooper, explaining that Bill 185 would create a non-partisan commission that would use an evidence-based approach to recommend appropriate social assistance rates based on rising rental, food and utility costs.
