Brain Injury with Tammy Kirkwood

The Importance of Nutrition with TBI

Brain injuries disrupt the ability for your brain to function and think clearly. They may also affect your sense of smell or taste and/or affect your hormones.

Most of us have heard the phrases “feed your body, feed your brain” or “you are what you eat”. Scientists have proven that deficiencies in certain nutrients and unhealthy food choices are detrimental to the functioning of your brain, whether you have a brain injury or not. If one looks up the meaning of injury it will be described as hurt, harmed or damaged. Some of the antonyms for these words are healthy, healed, and cured.
