Ontario’s independent review of auto insurance misses the mark

A recent report on auto insurance fails to adequately address the gap in services faced by injured accident victims, says Toronto personal injury and employment lawyer Kevin Marshall.

Marshall agrees with the premise of Fair Benefits Fairly Delivered: A Review of the Auto Insurance Systemwhich explains how auto insurance premiums in Ontario are the highest in the country even though the province doesn’t have a high accident rate compared to some provinces. Ontario drivers paid an average annual premium of $1,458 per vehicle in 2015 while the national average was $930, the report says.
