Insurer Desjardins denied the disability claim of Giller Prize-nominated novelist and professor at Université du Québec à Montréal on the basis that he looked well. Desjardins/The Personal and Manulife did the same to me after my head-on collision.

‘I felt bullied and harassed’: A Montrealer’s fight to get insurer to recognize his depression

Samuel Archibald says he’s getting his “fighting spirit” back, feeling better than he has in months.

The Montreal novelist and literature professor has been inundated by messages of love, support and gratitude since La Presse published his story last week of being denied disability insurance last fall, even though his doctor had ordered him to take medical leave for a major depression.

How a broken jury list makes Ontario justice whiter, richer and less like your community

A two-year Toronto Star/Ryerson School of Journalism investigation documenting the racial makeup of jurors in 52 criminal trials since 2016 in Toronto and Brampton reveals flaws in the jury selection process that skews towards property owners, fails to reflect the GTA’s growing diversity and excludes potentially millions of Ontarians from serving their civic duty.

Re the insurer fight story below, is there any trustworthy insurer?

The below article by Sun journalist, Michele Mandel  on January 18, 2018 “Shameful attempts by auto insurer to fight paying a teen with catastrophic injury”
is unfortunately par for the course for claimants with most auto or disability insurers. True, some insurers are worse and people would do well to take a look at the insurer to whom they pay premiums – premiums that are no guarantee of coverage for a legitimate claim.
