Union takes Ontario to court over welfare computer problems

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) filed an application Tuesday for an injunction with the Ontario Superior Court, urging it to order that the problem-plagued Social Assistance Management System (SAMS) “cease to be used . . . until the system can provide reliable, timely, accurate benefits to the recipients” of welfare and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) payments.

Arrests made, $1 million in stolen vehicles recovered in Ontario auto fraud investigation

Seven people have been arrested and more than $1 million in stolen automobiles have been recovered after a joint investigation into an alleged auto theft ring operating in Durham Region, York Region and Toronto, the Insurance Bureau of Canada said Tuesday.

Proclamation Date for Amendment To Prejudgment Interest Rate
