Or the toughest question of all when random strangers call you for advice: do I have a case? No, you don’t. Well, wait: you’re frustrated because no responsible lawyer can answer this question on the spot, and you’re frustrated because you know that even if they have a case, they probably should not hire you because of your fees. Concussion clinic guidance to focus on the right care, at the right time by the right provider

It should be straightforward. Someone who experiences a concussion regardless of the cause should have confidence that they will be able to able to access appropriate care by choosing or being referred to a clinic that says it specializes in “concussion care”. Unfortunately this is not the case.

Woman’s life changed forever after being hit by motorcycle

TORONTO – Haytham Markos nearly killed vibrant widow Dorrianne Armstrong Sears after his speeding motorcycle crashed into her on a Yonge St. sidewalk.

Ontario lawyer referral fees to be capped, advertising rules to change

TORONTO – The body that regulates lawyers in Ontario has opted for a cap on referral fees rather than an outright ban, and made various changes to advertising rules.

Law Society to set cap on amount for referral fees

A cap on referral fees was approved in principle at Convocation’s February 23, 2017 meeting. The amount of the cap, rule amendments to implement the policy, and related proposals for additional requirements to increase transparency in marketing and to ensure genuine consent in referral fee arrangements, will be considered by Convocation in the coming months.

Ontario law society cracks down on referral fees, lawyers’ ads

The meeting, made up of lawyers who are elected “benchers,” also accepted recommendations released earlier this weekby the law society’s Advertising & Fee Arrangements Issues Working Group that will give lawyers clearer guidance on what type of marketing breaks the rules — such as citing paid-for awards that are not genuine indicators of quality, or using “sexually offensive” marketing material to lure clients.
