Saadati v. Moorhead: The Supreme Court Gives Psychological Injuries Their Proper Recognition

CAT Developments at the LAT

The new definitions for catastrophic impairment came into force for motor vehicle accidents that occurred on or after June 1, 2016. Currently, no cases under the new definition have been decided at the Licencing Appeals Tribunal (“LAT”). However, a review of the catastrophic impairment cases that have been decided since the commencement of the LAT do provide some guidance for the management of cases under the new definition.

Ford recalls almost 1.4M cars; steering wheel can come loose

DETROIT — Under pressure from U.S. regulators, Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million midsize cars in North America because the steering wheels can detach from the steering column and drivers could lose control.

The recall covers certain Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2014 through 2018 model years.

Canadians with disabilities twice as likely to experience violence: Statistics Canada

New data from Statistics Canada says Canadians with disabilities are twice as likely to experience violent victimization as the able-bodied population.

The figures, drawn heavily from the 2014 General Social Survey on Victimization, found rates were similar among both disabled men and women.
